DEEPEN is a joint project between the Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) in Berlin, Germany and the WPZ Research GmbH in Vienna, Austria. DEEPEN draws on the expertise of over a hundred dedicated and experienced researchers, policy advisors and higher education specialists. Both organisation have proven track records of acquiring Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe projects, advising on EU policy and organising (digital) organisational transformation processes in higher eduation and research institutions. 

Higher education and research institutions in Southeast Europe (SEE) face the dual challenges of aligning with EU standards and rapidly adapting to digital advancements in education and research. With DEEPEN, we provide guidance to universities, academies, funding bodies, and other stakeholders in research and education to support the development of digitally enabled higher education and research institutions – ready to contribute to the European Research Area (ERA).

We offer tailored co-creative digital transformation services and evidence-informed policy advice for SEE institutions. Together, we co-develop appropriate and tailormade tools, frameworks, and expertise to build robust digital education infrastructures and capacity for academic excellence and innovation, ultimately supporting EU integration efforts. Each institution will receive tailored guidance to meet their unique challenges and achieve digital, policy, and academic improvements aligned with EU goals.
